Hi, this is David Arendale, your host for the Best Education Practices Podcast. Thanks for spending some time with me today. In this podcast episode, I provide a short preview of what you can anticipate with the podcast.

The sponsor for this podcast is the Educational Opportunity Association, one of the regional professional associations that represent federally-funded student achievement programs named TRIO and GEAR-UP. For more than half a century, these programs have helped students who are academically and economically disadvantaged to graduate from secondary and post-secondary education institutions.

We are the first group of federally-funded programs to create our own best practices clearinghouse. Rather than relying on practices developed by others, we created an online program manual of what works with our TRIO and GEAR UP students.
I serve as the manager of the website that shares the best practices developed by these educators. I have a long history in higher education with a variety of student success programs including Supplemental Instruction. I am an associate professor emeritus from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where I worked with TRIO programs.
